John McCain is too white

I think it's time we pointed out the obvious.

John McCain is too white to be the next President. Clearly, this makes him out of the mainstream, too risky, too untested. Add the various other issues involved with him—anger management, carcinoma management, spousal management, consistency management, age management—I have to ask: can we really be willing to roll the dice with this man?

I shall not mention where he graduated in his class at the Naval Academy, that his wife stole drugs from a charity to support her habit, Charles Keating, or his now-laughable intent to run an honorable and respectful campaign.

That would be too much, don't you think?

Let me first state that I am leaning towards Obama in the upcoming presidential election. However, even with my inclination towards Obama, I feel this is a poor argument against McCain. He is too white? What is the correlation between being white and being “out of the mainstream, too risky, [and] to untested”? For that matter, define what “mainstream” is for America? Furthermore, assuming that there is a clear understanding of “mainstream” and that McCain is in fact out of this group, does this necessarily make him an unacceptable presidential candidate? In other words, does a president have to be in the “mainstream” in order to be a good leader? For a person could have great leadership qualities that would make him/her an effective leader, and yet be out of the “mainstream.” Also, being out of the “mainstream” could be a strength in some cases because the unique position of being outside the “mainstream” would give him/her an unique perspective that could lead to a beneficial prophetic voice in the office (does a call for “change” ring a bell). For example, it seems apparent that “mainstream” America is exploiting the environment in many ways. Because of this, I feel a person with a real prophetic vision is needed to change America’s attitude towards the environment. In this upcoming election, Obama seems to be the candidate with the more aggressive environmental policy. But yet, he is not being accused of being out of the “mainstream.”

John and Cindy McCain own
eight private homes. Eight multi-million dollar private homes. Just like you and me. And just like you and me, John McCain wears $520.00 shoes--$520.00 Italian loafers. (Salvatore Ferragamo "Pregiato
Moccasins.") Available at your local Neiman Marcus department store.

His $520 shoes go good with his faded jean jacket and faded jean pants--so he can look like a good ole boy on his "ranch." Just like George W. Bush.

You ARE talking about his hair, aren't you? Just because he's a doddering fool who can't differentiate between Sunnis and Shi'ites, doesn't mean you have to be all "agist". Geez, give senior moments a chance.

I think John Lennon sang that.
